This is a bit off the beaten path but for weeks now I have been reading (with increasing interest) on raw foodists and raw food blogs. Why, you ask? Well, living in NYC is tough. The schedules, the trains, the delays, the hurry it ups and gotta do it nows. It can drive a girl a bit nuts. Even though I am from NY, I am more of a peaceful, zen kind of girl. My home is my sanctuary and houses me from the craziness that is outside. Things happen so quickly in NY that you don’t have time to process events or feelings. And I want to know what it all means, it’s important for me to know. Because why run if you don’t know where you are running to? I would much rather stand and look around and figure it out. Thing is, I really LOVE standing– it starts to resemble a comedy of sorts (straight of out of Beckett play). And to be sure, I am the reluctant turtle, standing, thinking, weighing my options. But when I move, you can be sure, I move meaningfully. That’s just how I roll. So, I’ve started to wander onto a greener path. I hope that it will bring me mental and emotional clarity, the strength to do the things I want to do, stick to the things I’ll say I’ll do and most importantly –to be healthy and vibrant. I will be doing a smoothie cleanse for 3 days. It will be veggie-based, rather than fruit based.
For about a week now I have been reading Meghan Telpner’s blog Making Love In The Kitchen and it is chock full of information on nutrition. Meghan is a certified nutritionist and holistic lifestyle consultant. Yes, she will clean out your entire pantry. Gladly and cheerfully. She will extol the praises of the mighty coconut and the green goddess of kale. Now, for those of you who never thought I’d go the green route: I’ve seen the results! I have more energy and my skin has never looked better. I’m in. The little I’ve done has resulted in a lot more than I expected. Check out her blog for more details. (And yes, I will be blogging about my experience)
